Polin Haghvirdizadeh
Polin is a Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. student in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, University of Melbourne and is based at the Royal Women’s Hospital. Her supervisors are A/Prof Harry Georgiou, Dr. Bill Kalionis, Dr. Padma Murthi, and A/Prof Martha Lappas, Dr Tom Cade and Dr Sarah Price. She attained a Bachelor of Microbiology and Master of Human Genetics, and published six ISI papers before commencing her Ph.D. Her Ph.D. is focused on maternal and fetal factors that contribute to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and maternal obesity, and the regulation of nutrient transporters in the placenta for better understanding of the effect of the maternal environment on fetal growth regulation in GDM and maternal obesity.
